Going after your Dreams

I was talking to my friend Marisha last night and she was telling me how excited she was about going to grad school to get a masters in film production(tv & movie). Despite the fact that we were chatting online and I couldn't see her or hear her, I could feel her excitement. This is her dream and she said that she would rather struggle and do something she loves than struggle while doing something she hates. I agree with her 100%. in fact that's exactly what I did while in Americorps at Hands On Miami. I struggled with finances and politics. But at the end of the day, I felt successful and I knew that I could have done that job forever because it was something that I loved doing.
After talking to her I was laying in bed thinking about my dreams, desires, and passions. I know what I want to do and how I want to get there, but I think I was waiting for someone to approve or maybe believe in me so that I could move forward on MY dream. But that's not the way it works, you have to believe in your dreams and push yourself forward through all obstacles and even despite what others around you may say. There are so many men and women throughout history that believed in themselves despite the failures, if they had not would we have electricity, flight, womens voting, and even Disney World? :)
I heard someone say once that some of the people responsible for the inventions above tried and failed 100's of times. But one of them said if I had given up on the 100th time, I wouldn't have succeeded on the 101st time. This is what we should be thinking every time we work towards achieving a dream, keep going no matter what, because whatever your dream is it could be the next thing that makes this world so much better.
